I woke up this morning with the message being VERY clear: the heart must be healed. The disappointments, sorrows, and regrets that we’ve been carrying are the key factors holding us back from achieving the success we desire. Why can’t we just let go of the old wounding and move on? It’s a great question and one that can be answered in so many ways. I would like to suggest that during this Full Moon in Pisces we look at the unconscious forces that are at play.
Each month, our beloved Moon cycles around the earth touching each sign. When the Sun is in a sign, it stays for around 30 days. The Moon has two important phases that we spiritualists generally acknowledge and to which we hold ceremony: the New Moon and the Full Moon. She is Full when she is in the sign opposite. On August 22nd, the Sun moved into the sign of Virgo. We will have a New Moon in Virgo on September 20th. Right now, we are in the Full Moon phase and it rises in Pisces on September 6th at 9:02am CEST.
The sign of Pisces is ruled by the planet Neptune and together, they govern the 12th house of the unconscious mind, karma, and the primordial pool of creation. Now look, friend, I’m going to tell you some things about the 12th house, but before you read on, I want you to promise me you won’t get scared about this Full Moon phase. Every Full Moon phase is about shining light on the darkened landscape of our internal emotional processes so that they can be integrated and healed. How you interpret the emotional world and the stories behind it determines your experience as the living Divine. If you recoil from what is murky, shadowy and scary, then you’re denying yourself the opportunity to be whole. Folks love talking about unity, wholeness and being at one, but they really mean that conditionally– being at one with the ‘good’ stuff. Well, the 12th house and this Full Moon in Pisces is about confronting the ‘bad’ stuff– wounding, fears and negative perceptions we’ve hidden away and denied for too long. So get ready.
The 12th house rules karma, past life experiences, and the unconscious mind. It’s the place from which your ego tries to protect you, but in its efforts, it draws you deeper into the 12th house’s clutches. In your birth chart, if you have planets here, there can be a life pattern with underlying sorrow in the life areas that the planet rules. For example, I have two planets nestled in the 12th house– the Sun and Venus. Hahahahahaha! JOY! The Sun is vital Life Force Energy and Venus is intimate relationships. Every morning, I get to watch Venus rise followed by the Sun. It is a beautiful sight to behold. But it is also a tremendous reminder of why I am on Earth: Healing my vital Life Force Energy and healing intimate relationships. We can think about the 12th house as being the receptacle bin of cosmic pain. As I said, if you have a planet here, you most likely will experience some sort of pain in the area that planet rules. My Sun in the 12th house means that in addition to woundings of Life Force Energy, I also have wounding in pleasure, sexuality, and shine. My Venus in the 12th, in addition to intimate relationships, means that my life is about healing the profound pain of unrequited love. YIKES! Well, okay, and so you have my clear example of where our work lies for this Full Moon, my friend. Our job is to let the Moon rise on our unconscious wounding and illuminate the inner emotional landscape. Have you ever gone on a moonlit hike? It’s a magnificent experience because the world looks unfamiliar. It becomes a different place. There is an icy coolness that can prick your psyche. There’s a hush that blankets you, and there are shadows that cause misperception so that you can easily misstep. What you gotta do is slow down and instead of just relying on your eyes to show you the way, you have to use your intuition and feel your way. Likewise, when the Moon rises full in Pisces, we gotta slow down and approach each day with tremendous awareness. We need to tread lightly because we are on fragile ground. The landscape of the 12th house has been battered and bruised. Remember that there is sorrow here. Sorrow is not sadness. Sadness is light and fleecy compared to sorrow. Sorrow is something you’ve carried around a long time and it has the weight of history, age and sage-like wisdom. Over the next 10-12 days, we, and everybody around us, are going to have the Moon (planet of inner workings) shaking up our house of pain. Be kind and gentle with everybody you meet. Chances are they are unconsciously suffering while the Moon is taking them through a healing process. You will be going through it, too. Our loved ones who are battling cancer are given tender loving care. We are aware of their emotional pain, as well as, their physical pain from the disease itself AND the treatments meant to cure it. Likewise we need to be compassionate with ALL people right now as the Moon takes us through her healing treatments. Above all, we must be kind and gentle with ourselves because we are the most fragile of all. Okay, you’re looking at me and saying, “WTF, Crystal Lynn? I’m not THAT fragile.” Yeah. Okay, Toughie. Me thinks ya doth protest too much. How can you live in this world where there are refugees, children dying, oil spills, corrupt politicians, violence, sickness and dis-ease, and denounce your fragility? Fragility is a significant aspect of our human experience. And look, this is what the 12th house is all about– getting into our fragility and allowing what is fragile within us to rise up to be acknowledged, honored and nurtured. The Full Moon is a time of deep healing. The Full Moon in Pisces (like with every sign) comes only once per year. It’s freaking significant! How often do we get the chance to face the root cause of all shadows? Not that often! Once a year. So yeah, folks are gonna be fragile.
This is kinda gross, but it reminds of a zit that has been lying below the surface of your skin and your awaken to find it ready to release. Yep. That’s the environment we’re going to be working in over the next 10-12 days.
The thing about the 12th house is that it’s not actually shitty. And this is THE most difficult thing for many people to understand. The reason this house is so powerful, is not because of the hardship, it’s because of the Godship that this house embodies. Personally, I believe that God lives in the 12th house. God in its purest most raw, cosmic, and PRIMORDIAL state. Yeah. That’s why this house is so painful and this Moon phase so urgent. At the base of the primordial pool is creativity, love, passion, vision, expansion, and affirmation. And they are all unconditional. When we get past the drama and the shit of the egoic life, we are left with awesomeness; and God is awesome. When you sink down into your emotional drama, the thing I call shit, you are moving into a state of non-resistance. This state of non-resistance is God Him/Herself. This is with what we are connecting when we sit in silent meditation. You know how your mind FIGHTS silence? Yeah, that’s the shit you have to get through in order to get to God, which is the great cosmic silence, the great peace, the great stillness. This is the 12th house. We are meant to return to God by way of all the houses…. and to return home in the 12th house. This is where we meet our Maker. You do have to walk through the gates of hell to get to the portal of Heaven. The 12th house is the final step in the journey. It is the culmination of all the muck. The Full Moon in Pisces (we could also say the Full Moon in the 12th house) is the opportunity to confront your Shadow and release your fear. And your most effective weapon will be LOVE.
