The Sun moves into the sign of Aquarius around the 20th of January each year.  This year, the New Moon rises in Aquarius on January 24th at 1:52pm PST.  If you’re in the northern hemisphere, it’s winter and you can bet that chilly coolness will be present in our personalities as we move through the next 30 or so days. Now is the time to relax your attachment to your emotions. Aquarians are known as being aloof and although this can be frustrating and even detrimental when taken as a life motto, it can be incredibly helpful when you are needing to get things done that require objectivity. Right now, you’re going to find that you have an incredible ability to step back and see the big picture and you will probably notice that you have more confidence when dealing with trying situations.

With the Sun and New Moon in Aquarius, there is a sense of genius about you right now.

Seriously. Because Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, the planet of higher consciousness, we are ripe with ideas, creativity and big vision. Now is the time to think big and to take chances on those ideas. This does not mean that you have to jump on every idea and put all your money behind it. But it does mean that you should be spending lots of time exploring the treasures of your mind and seriously considering what you find. Take the time to assess your dreams, ideas and inspirations. Those which seem exciting or touch your heart in some way should be studied and your connection with them deepened. If you can build plans around them, write out steps and pathways for their manifestation, and start getting your troops on board, then you should do so. Aquarius’s detached aloofness makes it the perfect visionary because it doesn’t get held back by the limitation imposed by negative emotions. In Tarot, The Star represents Aquarius. It is bright, hopeful optimism. It is the energy of the cosmos brought down to earth and made manifest in great works.

When the New Moon and Sun get together, it is a time of manifestation magic.  So our job right now is to create, create, create and MANIFEST for the future. Aquarians are heady people and are master manifestors because all manifestation must pass through your mind at some point to be born in this world. As a matter of fact, for Aquarian people, the veil that separates the 3-dimensional material world and the rich layers of Spirit is very thin, which is one reason why you can find an Aquarius down on their luck one day and riding supremely high the next. You can bet that they read or saw something that sparked an awakening in their mind… and the Universe manifested it immediately because they don’t have any resistance to ideas. That’s because of the hope and optimism, The Star, that rules Aquarius and the 11th house of the Zodiac. This is a time when your good feelings will dominate your perspective and even the most grumpiest grump will experience more lightness in their being.

During this Sun and New Moon in Aquarius phase, don’t be surprised if you find yourself quickly forgiving slights and reaching out to make amends where once there were murky relations. This objective, hopeful optimism expands all of our vision and creates a deep sense of connection through our humanity. Remember that one of our most compassionate and humanitarian presidents, Abraham Lincoln, was an Aquarius and a vampire hunter. He has famously said, “I don’t like that man. I must get to know him better.” This is the natural inclination of the eternal optimist who recognizes opportunity in the face of challenge and seeks connection where there is discord.

It is not surprising that Aquarius and the 11th house cover networks and how things are connected. Even though Aquarius brings a relaxed and detached manner, it is primarily responsible for our platonic relationships. Friendships, community and the world at large. These are in the domain of Aquarius. The hopeful and optimistic nature tends to reach out to an eclectic variety of people, bringing them together to form community. And of course, our job during this time is to learn to harmonize.

And this is where Aquarius will challenge us. It is extending an invitation to awaken the Unconditional Love in our hearts and learn to see one another with unity and oneness. The lesson for Aquarius is to integrate what we perceive as different from us.

The Sun and New Moon in Aquarius open us to Unconditional Love.

The jailer for Aquarius is intolerance. Intolerance is a protective mechanism that our egoic self uses to gain a sense of control, power and authority in the world. You’ll be reading much more about this as we progress through the month.  Be sure to check back in with the blog and if you want to sign up to get my blog posts delivered to your inbox, sign up in the box below.  You can also dive way deep into this healing journey by enrolling in my Jailbreak Your Heart & Howl at the Moon healing and coaching program.

But for now, start looking at how you might be using intolerance to create a safe place for yourself in the scheme of the world. Remember that all of our jailers have both negative and positive functions. Our job is to recognize how we are using them and then to create some sort of harmony within ourselves, using them as our teachers.
